ShihabAI العربية

About Shihab AI

Shihab is built for restaurants in Palestine first: the dialect customers actually write in, the neighbourhood and landmark names they actually use, and the shekel.

Built for colloquial Arabic, not translated into it

There is a wide gap between a tool translated into Arabic and a tool built for it. A restaurant customer in Palestine does not write formal Arabic, and does not write full sentences. They write two broasted meals and large fries to Tira, or they write Arabic in Latin letters, or they name a landmark rather than a neighbourhood. And they expect an answer in the same register, not a corporate thank-you.

  • Palestinian and Levantine Arabic is the primary language, not an add-on.
  • Local area, neighbourhood and landmark names, and the many ways people spell them.
  • Arabic typed in Latin letters is understood like Arabic.
  • The shekel, Palestinian mobile numbers, and Palestine time.
  • Opening hours that run past midnight, as they really do here.

How it differs from an off-the-shelf bot

Arithmetic in code, not in prose

Every price, total and delivery fee is computed in code from your own data. There is no room for a confident wrong number.

Handover is built in, not optional

There are cases it is not allowed to finish alone: a complaint, a discount, an unconfirmed fact. They go to a person with the full conversation.

Measured on real conversations

Every version is re-run against real customer questions from the restaurant's own page archive, with its answer compared to what staff actually replied.

The restaurant's data comes first

Menu, prices, delivery areas and hours are data, not text inside a model. Change them and the answers change immediately.

Who is behind it

Shihab AI is a trading name of M W Yahia, a sole trader registered in the United Kingdom. The product is built for the Palestinian market and works with restaurants in Nablus and Ramallah.

Privacy and data

Each restaurant's data is separate from every other one's. Customer messages are used to serve that customer and to improve the quality of replies for the same restaurant, and the owner can ask for them to be deleted. The details are in the privacy policy and the terms of service.
